HotPortTMHigh Performance Mesh Networks
The Firetide HotPortTM High Performance Mesh Network provides a high capacity, self-healing wireless mesh backbone for outdoor and indoor networks. Designed for maximum performance, scalability, and ease of use, the HotPort mesh network works seamlessly between indoor and outdoor environments and can operate in 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz spectrums. The HotPort system enables multiple network services and standard Ethernet devices to operate on the wireless backbone creating secure and reliable wireless networks for video, voice and data. The HotPort family includes a multi-port 10/100 Ethernet switch for each node, VLAN capability, traffic prioritization, and remote management.
HotPortTM 3100 Series Indoor Mesh Nodes
HotPortTM 3100 series indoor mesh nodes provide scalable, high performance mesh networking for indoor voice, video and data applications. These plenum-rated units feature a built-in four port 10/100 Ethernet switch, a dual spectrum radio, and two omni-directional antennas. They operate at either 2.4 GHz for high capacity and maximum range or at 5 GHz for high capacity and minimal interference from 2.4 GHz devices. The HotPortTM 3100 series provides VLAN capability, traffic prioritization, and remote management, and they can interoperate with HotPort 3203 outdoor mesh nodes for seamless indoor-to-outdoor mesh networking. Each unit can mount securely to a wall, ceiling or countertop using an optional mounting bracket.
HotPortTM 3200 Series Outdoor Mesh Nodes
HotPortTM 3200 series outdoor mesh nodes provide high performance, high capacity mesh networking for outdoor applications and extreme operating environments. They have weatherproof enclosures and connect wirelessly to indoor and outdoor HotPort nodes to form a high performance wireless mesh network for video, voice and data. Outdoor nodes feature a built-in dual port 10/100 Ethernet switch, a dual spectrum radio, omni-directional antennas, and support 802.3af Power over Ethernet. They can operate at 2.4 GHz for maximum capacity and range, or at 5 GHz for maximum capacity and minimal interference from 2.4 GHz devices. A removable sunshield and a mounting bracket are provided with each weatherproof NEMA 4X enclosure. Options include integrated backup battery, light pole power tap, and solar powered subsystems.
HotViewTM Mesh Management Software
HotViewTM mesh management software provides real-time monitoring and management of Firetide HotPort wireless mesh networks. The software features an intuitive graphical user interface and provides complete access to all mesh and individual node settings including security, VLAN, traffic prioritization, radio power controls, and network gateway interconnects. Real-time monitoring features include mesh and node statistics and a graphical view that uses node icons to indicate active connections. Users can import graphics of floor plans or maps and icons for each node can be moved over the graphics to show the physical location of HotPort nodes. HotView can also be configured to monitor and operate the mesh remotely.

Whitepaper
An Introduction to Wireless Mesh Networking
Wireless networks provide unprecedented freedom and mobility for a growing number of laptop and PDA users who no longer need wires to stay connected with their workplace and the Internet. Ironically, the very devices that provide wireless service to these clients need lots of wiring themselves to connect to private networks and the Internet.
This white paper presents a viable alternative to all those wires - the wireless mesh network. Unlike basic Wi-Fi that simply untethers the client, the wireless mesh untethers the network itself giving IT departments, network architects and systems integrators unprecedented freedom and flexibility to build out networks in record time, without the expensive cabling.
